Gainesville current temperature: 75 degrees.
Salt Lake City current temperature: 38 degrees.
Tami mentioned how it was warm today.
I mentioned it was warm here too.
Then we mentioned the temperatures.
Funny how quickly you become accustomed to the weather.
We're going home to Utah in 7 days.
We're excited and hoping for a white Christmas.
However, we are curious to see how we handle the sudden temperature shift.
Wish us luck.
Meanwhile, we're enjoying sunny days!

Anderson Family Tradition:
every year each of us sisters got to choose an ornament.
I chose this one in 1990.

My Uncle Bill passed away. One of my vivid memories as a child was him turning to talk to me. We were at a church baptism and he tried to talk to me, a very shy little girl. He then asked me if I wanted two of his sheep. I said yes. So he gave us two orphaned lambs, and later, two more- as we had done such a great job (if you haven't learned my family is huge animal lovers then there is nothing I can do for you), we adored our lambies, and I loved my Uncle Bill. He had a big heart. I will miss him, and know we will all be together again.

having to wear a sweater because it is 59 degrees
"snowing" hundreds of these little cotton things:
and going home to drink cider.
It feels like Christmas!

Confession station:
when running, I occasionally imagine I'm in a race
and I'm about to pass my enemy.
It works wonders for my workouts.

Spent Thanksgiving with Jessica & Matt Simons and Keri & Shaun Willis.
Super fun (but left the camera at home).
Cooking together was fun as it
turns out pumpkin pie is easy to make.
My first time with Granny's stuffing recipe tasted just like Mom's. Success!
Jon was the dreamboat who headed up mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and green beans...
he is officially in charge of those every year from here on out, as they were delicious.
A very special day.

For the Lee's
You know who you are (including Sandra Lee, of course),
and I'm thankful for you.
|
for the best in-laws.
They really are #1.
At our wedding reception people kept coming up to me and saying,
"you're so lucky to be in the Gardiner family."
They were right.

Let the Thanksgiving hoopla begin!
We went to get the last odds and ends for the feast with friends
and I'm just trying to remember all the tips and tricks Mom taught me
so I won't be on the phone with her all morning, Thursday.
I'm so excited.

for my dad.
There just isn't a lot of men in the world like my dad. I love hearing stories about him. He was the perfect son, Grandma will attest. When Tami and I were both "the singles" we would talk about how the Anderson Men are capable men. Real men. Manly men. We needed men like that. There isn't a lot out there like that. An Anderson Man, I call it. He can fix anything, he's tougher than anything, he's the kindest, strongest, smartest... name something positive and make it a superlative. That's my dad.
{1960, dad at school production}
{1990, dad and grandpa roping}
{1985, teaching me to ride Candy, our pony}
{1974, his mission in Norway}
{1998, fishing at the cabin-rancho}

Everyone is home for this little one's sealing.
I've only met him once and he was instantly a favorite.
Wish we could be there, Loo & Lee.
Love you!

high school football championship this Friday
I tease Jon by questioning how this is possible as Davis is a 4A school.
He doesn't like it very much.
I get a real kick out of it.
The Gardiner's (most of the in-laws as well) are very loyal to Davis...
so I gotta represent the Miners.
So I think the football championship merits a post.

I was trying to illustrate to my mom how I love Gainesville and feel at home here.
I did this by telling her
I only miss Pupe.
Oops.
Good thing she has the best sense of humor.
Then I stumbled across these pictures of Baby Blue.
Darling.
I love square bear.
I really want a dog.
Soon.
For the record I do miss everyone.
And especially the dogs.

tomato basil soup + crusty bread + lettuce + bacon = delicious BLT soup!
I worked with
this tomato basil soup recipe off the internet
(omitting the butter and using half and half instead of heavy whipping cream);
it was good & easy, but does anyone have a tried and true recipe?
I've been making these little flowers for funsies.
I'm thinking of clustering them on this salmon colored pillow... we'll see how that goes.
My backyard is an acorn warzone.
You can't walk back there without the threat of an acorn falling on your head,
or being aimed at and thrown at your head.
Amanda, Angee, Annie: did you have these issues while in Ann Arbor?
Do I need to make the squirrels a peace offering of bird seed?
Perhaps then they may be more amiable...

We saw 4 baby alligators this weekend.
They would swim to their mom, and make funny chirping sounds.
If they stopped swimming it was tricky to find them
(gators have a serious talent to be still) especially in that green stuff.
They were silly and adorable.

Right out of Gainesville is a tiny town, Micanopy. I love.
Several antique stores.
These are just charming.
I adore depression glass. I want. I love.
Gazebos remind me of my Grandpa Phelps. And Anne of Green Gables.
I want to live here.
Or here.
Jon loved the church-
but who doesn't love white churches with red doors?
My favorite love of Micanopy was the five old men sitting on a porch laughing and talking.
Two of them on a porch swing using the big hound dog as an ottoman.

One of the cool things about
my church is the network. A world-wide network.
Moving here, for me, was tough. Not a shocker, I know. But when I went to church I was home. I have a family even though I am not related to a sole here.
While Jon was in Peru a guy from the states flew into Lima to do an externship. His luggage was stolen out of a cab. Everything- gone. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. An announcement was made in our churches- and the members gave him everything he needed for the months he would be living there. Network.
We would make friends and be fine regardless. The Church has just made it a lot easier.
We take care of our own. And a lot of others too. It is one of the cool things about my church.
